Strofadia islands.

The two small desert islands of Strofadia lie 22 nautical miles south of the island of Zakynthos. Upon the largest of them an impressive monastery-fort was founded on 13th century under the auspices of Irene, daughter of the Byzantine emperor Theodoros A' Laskaris.
Dionysios -later to be proclaimed patron saint of Zakynthos- served here as a monk.
The islands can be reached by boat from the town's port. There are occasional services on the summer season.
