Avouris theater &

the coultural village "Skalia"

A place as the coultural village "Skalia" in Tragaki, at Zakynthos, would only serve a specific purpose; to bring people of different places and cultures in contact with each other and with the art in a natural environment.

A human friendly place, in which children and adults are going to feel joy and peace enjoying a variety of interesting events.

It offers what every cultural center, built with love and no financial interest would offer. And that is because its owner (Dimitris Avouris), is its creator himself.

Very important is, the fact that it is built on an island worldwide known for its tradition in the areas of music and (folklore) theater. The realization of a personal dream, that its creator begun to "vision" 10 years ago (1994) in order for the island to have a special place to expose artistic creations or introduce cultural events with parallel ability for the visitors to stay at a natural paradise.

In the cultural center are concluded:

  • A big open theater, wooden at first and later rebuilt with stone. Capacity: 650 people.

  • A small pebbly, theater of 90 seats, dedicated to the Zakynthian compositor Dimitris Lagios.

  • A theater of 250 seats, which includes, a bar, an exhibition room, library and a room for team games.

  • Open air scene next to traditional stone made oven specially built for Zakynthian fairy tale nights.

  • Bookstore- internal and external- and exhibition rooms used in order to expose paintings, ceramics or sculpture creations.

  • Music scene.

  • Greek tavern with traditional food and home-made wine.

  • Cafe - bookstore

  • The home of fairy-tales, including a theater of 150 seats, convention center, the only fairy-tale library in Greece and reading corner.
